On my
last post I mentioned how Madi was taking a dance/tumble class and getting so excited about it. Well, sometimes in life we are thrown a disappointment or two. I had signed her up for the "beginners" class. In my mind this was the right one since she had never been before. We get there early to fill out paperwork and she keeps saying "I'm ready Mama...I wanna dance!" An Instructor that we have known for a long time takes Madi in the gym and shows her some tumbles etc. Then they tell us that parents are not allowed to be with the kids but we can watch in the next room through the glass! Um...Madi is not quiet 3 yet, never gets to play with kids, always with mom & not to good at sitting, this could be a problem. And it was. She was so lost as the other girls (like ages 6-7) were doing back bends etc. I saw her start to look for me and panic a little. As she spotted me through the glass I waved frantically "HERE I AM HONEY!" LOL! Then here came the big tears..."I wanna dance mama!"
Here she was before the meltdown:

Not knowing what to do:

The Instructor said come with me Madi and I will show you what our
Super Toddler class does:

Listening to her instructions:

She turned on the music and showed Madi some moves:

So next Weds we will be a SUPER TODDLER! And mom is allowed to sit in the class. :)

My heart hurt! I am so glad she is super now;) Life's disappointments are unavoidable, indeed, we are having some in college this week. But that's how we learn to pick ourselves up and move on. I want to squeeze her!
So glad you were able to find her the class where she can boogey down with other little ones!
So wait, if the class is on Wed, does that mean you can still do your class on Thursdays? Kinda cool how that all worked out!
I am glad she is now in a class more age appropriate. As for the other part of your post, about not being able to go into the class with her, we owned a gymnastics school and did not allow parents in the workout area either. There is a reason for that.
A parent in the room becomes a distraction for the child. ANd while doing gymnastics, you really need to be focused in order not to risk getting seriously hurt. Either the child pays more attention to the parent or worse yet, the parent starts calling out to the child saying things like, "Do a roll" or "Try this..." Many times the parents think their child has abilities that in reality they don't.
In any event, Madi makes one very adorable ballerina!
She is going to have so much fun when everything gets worked out. You can tell by the pictures that she loves it!
Awwww, bless her little heart. My son was the same way whenever I first took him to our gym's daycare. He thought I was just leaving him there. He didn't spend much time away from me at all. We've had quite a few meltdowns since then but I think he now understands that it's just for a little while.
Looks like she settled in beautifully once she saw how much fun it is. That's great!
Since hearing of the Love Dare, I've heard of some really amazing stories. Isn't it amazing?!!
Take care!
