My Interview with a New Friend

I saw Marlene's comments on a lot of others blogs and decided to stop by and give her a visit. She's a great lady and we've been having fun ever since. She wanted to do an interview and I was up for it!

1. The Flintstones is such a cute psydeonym for your blog...how did this correlation come about? Did it happen to have anything to do with the uncanny resemblance to the cartoon family? (if they ever do another remake, you guys sooo need to get the parts!)
I was using our real names and I had two different blogs. One was the Birth of My Daughter and some weirdo left a disturbing comment on it. So, just to be totally safe, I deleted those and started all over. I did a contest on picking characters for my family and our friend BHE won! The Flintstones was perfect for me being a staying at home,Fred for my husband walking in all stressed after a hard day of work ;) and of us having one daughter and a dog. I thought about All in the Family because I find I'm like Edith Bunker these days trying to please everyone!

2. What was life like for you before you had Pebbles?
It was very good. Andy & I did a lot together, very rarely ever apart and went on fun vacations and romantic getaways. I worked for a Gynecologist and loved my job but the Dr. I worked for moved out of town for a better opportunity and I decided to become and Mom and wanted to stay at home with her for the first 5 years if possible.

3. With the exception of being a wife and mother, what things are you most proud of in your life?
That I may be a little shy, but I will take up for myself when need be! lol. I will not let others dictate my life. Not one to fight, but if you back me in a corner, the red head in me will come out swinging! Seriously, I've never in my life been in a fist fight and seem to get along with people of all personalities. However, I'm not easily intimidated. I feel Doctors, lawyers and so on put their pants on the same way I do, right? I guess the bottom line is I refuse to be bullied or belittled.
And if I'm wrong I'll admit it and I can say I'm sorry if I did something wrong.
And of course the other thing is that I am a Christian and try daily to work on myself in some way.

4. You and your daughter seem to be very bonded and have a great relationship. What are your hopes and dreams for her? Now, jump 15 years...what kind of relationship to you envision for you and your daughter.
I hope she will realize that God made her who she is for a reason. He made her look the way she does as well and I want her to be confident in that and to see her beauty within. I'm not big on making her a prissy little princess. I hope she will dream big and do something she can be proud of even if it means working for less money.
By that time she will be a senior in H.S. and I'm sure she will slam doors in my face and roll her eyes at me, but when she needs me, I think she'll still come running.

5. Name five things that your readers may be surprised to know about you?

1-I have not left the house in approximately 20 years without make-up on. Not because of vanity, but of being insecure with the way I really look.

2-I'm not a "Queenie". I never dreamed of a big fairytale wedding as a young girl. I paid $40 for my wedding dress and Fred and I got married (alone) in Gatlinburg,TN. & had a romantic honeymoon in the mountains. I did however dream of meeting a great guy and having a life long marriage.
I am happy shopping at Walmart and I'm content financially as long as we can get the bills paid and have a few wants and vacations. I'm not high maintenance when it comes to money.

3-For the majority of my life, I did not want children. I was happy just being a wife and working 9-5. But, some days I felt like something was missing. I wanted to give a different kind of love to someone. When I turned 32 it hit me like a tons of bricks! My biological clock was ringing very loudly everyday. Had Pebbles at 33 years old! And now my life is complete!

4-I get "cabin fever" very quickly and do not enjoy being alone.

5-I used to be addicted and "tivo'd" the Anna Nicole Smith Show...there I confessed!

Now it's my turn to be Barbara Walters...who wants to be in the hot seat?! I promise not to ask you something that will make you cry, LOL! (Barbara has that rep)

OMG! You did a fabulous job and I thank you for giving us this wonderful opportunity to get to know Wilma a little bit better...

BHE is so funny that way and she is creative although I know that is not a word she uses to describe herself.

Oh how fun!!! You can interview me if you want. I am pretty boring, so you might not like what you get, but you can if you wanna. :)

You Tivo'ed the Anna Nicole Smith show??

Thanks for letting me get to know you better. I really enjoyed your interview a lot.

I remember the days of never leaving my house without makeup as well. The difference is back then I was vain. LOL.

Funny thing... I often have to go back and type WILMA instead of your name. It's hard to teach a dog new tricks. ;)

This was great. Marlene is awesome! I love her sweet spirit.

Ack! The weirdos... they have far too much influence over blogs. I had to do comments moderation because of a weirdo.

Regardless, the Flintstones thing WORKS!!

Don't you just LOVE Marlene?? She is so much fun!

Before my grandmother passed away, she was very caught up in the Anna Nicole saga. The whole story just broke her heart. We have often joked that Grandma has now taken Anna Nicole under her wing, and that she is just fine:)

My Posse

THE BLOGGERS PRAYER

Lord help me to learn to spell without spellcheck,
manage to visit all that visit me, and post regularly -
all in 5 minutes a day, so that I can clean house
and take care of my family.
Help me to not look at every occurrence in my life as a blog post, and to quit taking pictures of weird things to share as well. Please Lord, help me to stop talking about my blog friends as though they are next door neighbors or someone I have known all of my life.
And help me dear Lord, to think of something witty and wise to post tomorrow.
