Table Talk

We hear all the time as parents about the importance of sitting down with yout children, eating dinner and talking about their day.
So,why does something as simple as having the family sit down every evening at the table for a meal seem impossible in most families today?

As a mom you have all these dreams in your head of how you are going to run the home. One thing I truly want to accomplish is us having family meals every night together. But, when Andy works late I can't hold Madi's dinner until 8pm. And before you know it Madi will be in school and we will be off to all the ball games etc.

Check out what this website has to say about it:
First of all, eating together helps families achieve open communication and build stronger and healthier relationships. Children have better grades at school and are better adjusted as teens and adults, and the entire family enjoys healthier nutrition. For many families, eating dinner together proves to be good and effective way to reduce the risk of youth rates of addiction, lessen depression, and helps to raise healthier children. It is also a great time to share the events of the day, discuss news and ideas and just be together and enjoy each other's company.

I mean do you think this is true and if so are we failing as parents by letting other things get it the way to do so. Or is it unrealistic to think that in today's economic society we can still do this.
And if we keep going this way into the future do you think "the dining room and table" with be a thing of the past?
*Replaced with a computer room more than likely.

If my husband has to work late, and can't have dinner with us, he eats breakfast or lunch with them instead. I don't think it matters when you all eat together...or if it can't be every day. :)

That's a good point! Take the time out to do breakfast as a family if one cannot make it for dinner. Thanks!

What a great idea! We did dinner together as much as possible during the years. You will always cherish the memories you make. That Madi is more beautiful by the day!

My Posse

THE BLOGGERS PRAYER

Lord help me to learn to spell without spellcheck,
manage to visit all that visit me, and post regularly -
all in 5 minutes a day, so that I can clean house
and take care of my family.
Help me to not look at every occurrence in my life as a blog post, and to quit taking pictures of weird things to share as well. Please Lord, help me to stop talking about my blog friends as though they are next door neighbors or someone I have known all of my life.
And help me dear Lord, to think of something witty and wise to post tomorrow.
