On Thurs., Nov 5th his heart stopped beating & he had been that way for approximately 30-40 minutes before the nurses realized it. It was around 11:00pm. He was life flighted to a more advanced hospital. He had numerous health problems and our hospital usually does not have that many specialist all available at the same time.
So the Doctor's confirmed that he had no brain activity and the family had to make the decision to take him off of life support. After all of us (who could be there)said our goodbyes the Doctors start to prep to "pull the plug" and Andy had his hand on his Dad's head when the nurse stepped back and said "I have done nothing and he's passing on his own." So sad yet a relief at the same time. We knew it was time for him to go and be in Heaven where he has no more pain and a different type of halo.
I am making Madi a book about the things she did with her Grandpa and the kind of man he was. Here's a sample of it.
