SFMTY**A Seed Was Planted

As we approach Easter I was wondering how and when my belief and faith in God started. I remember praying on and off all my life, even as a YOUNG child. There was some tough times in my childhood and I can remember turning to God. But, my earliest memory is when I was very little and my Mom would sing me to sleep with this song:
Jesus loves the little children
All the children of the world
Black and yellow, red and white
They're all precious in His sight
Jesus loves the little children of the world

I feel that my Grandma Wee and my Mom may have planted the seed that led me to believe in God.
Easter seems to be a holiday where a lot of the "unsaved" go to church with their families and often times their lives are changed by this special day.
I am very Thankful for those who prayed for me and planted the seeds in my life. And I intend to do the same thing for my daughter and call her name out to the Lord.

Ephesians 1:17-19
Lord, give our children the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, and the knowledge of You. That the
eyes of their hearts be enlightened that they will know the hope to which you have called them, the
riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints and His Incomparably great power for us who
believe.

So, I would love to hear stories on how your belief came about or what you are doing with your children.

Please visit Marcy for more SFMTY...go now!

Interesting post, gal!

I have been raised in church my whole life. So, from the wee age of being a nursery baby, church is all I have known.

As for my children..... exactly the same. Both have been in the church nursery...children's church, etc.

BTW- that song is very much apart of my childhood, as well. ;)

this is a great post, and i love the quotes..i was not raised in a particularly church going family, but we all said grace, gave thanks and had a certain belief...i make sure the kids have all the views, and they all have their own bibles, i guess thats how it was when i was small, it just went without saying becasue its what we were told from a young age...of course, i never questioned it, and havign faith made it easier when we had to explain aaron's passing...if we did not believe, how would we feel about loved ones that pass...i don't think the kids would have coped either...

your post certainly made me think!!!

happy easter xxx

This is a beautiful post. How blessed we have been to be raised and raise our own with an awareness of God. I remember singing Jesus loves me too, even though I wouldn't describe my home growing up as a Christian home. He has been there all along, guiding and leading and drawing me to Him.

The photograph is lovely - what a gorgeous group of ladies!

Hugs my friend!

I, too, grew up going to church and learning about God's love from the very beginning. My relationship with the Lord didn't really become my own until I was 24 and faced a severe illness. I called out to the Lord like I never had before. After that time, I began to really work on loving and knowing God and I am still doing it each and every day.

These are a few of the things I do with my children- Children's Christian music CD's, Christian videos, Bible reading and discussion, memory verses, daily prayer, daily discussions about God.

Lauren is able to quote the verses that we memorize and she is only 2. So, maybe pick a simple verse to do with Pebbles. Read it over 3 times each day, maybe at breakfast time? At first she won't get it, but if you keep doing it she will eventually learn it and say it with you. When Caleb was 2-3 he was able to say all of Psalm 1, which is 6 verses long! It was pretty amazing and pretty cute, too!

When your "born" into a church going Sabbath keeping family you never really have a "coming to HIM" moment..unless of coarse you go away for awhile.
I did.
Nothing I'm proud of..
However because I could see how life is different w/out HIM I know that my life with HIM is soooo much better.

SO when I was..19ish..I came home.
Repented and have tried to serve and please HIM in a way that makes HIM proud.

As for my children..I pray they won't have to "go away" before they "come home"..but I trust like my family did with me..that HE knows best!

LOVE these types of questions and post good job!

And again love that family pix!

I have always gone to church and don't remember a time when I didn't believe. I hope I am passing that on to my kids.

Beautiful post! I totally remember that song and 'Jesus Loves Me'. I sing them both to my boys. God is great and my kids will know it.

Love the four generations picture. You all are beautiful!

My Posse

THE BLOGGERS PRAYER

Lord help me to learn to spell without spellcheck,
manage to visit all that visit me, and post regularly -
all in 5 minutes a day, so that I can clean house
and take care of my family.
Help me to not look at every occurrence in my life as a blog post, and to quit taking pictures of weird things to share as well. Please Lord, help me to stop talking about my blog friends as though they are next door neighbors or someone I have known all of my life.
And help me dear Lord, to think of something witty and wise to post tomorrow.
