Cerebral palsy is a condition caused through lack of oxygen to the brain during pregnancy, during the delivery, or after the birth. One in four hundred babies is affected and the condition is not curable, but the difficulties experienced can be overcome in many cases.

when my nephew an infant (3 weeks) he rolled over from his belly to his back.
the doctor told my sister to watch and if it was something he could consistantly do (rather than a fluke) to bring him in.
for a while we were all worried about CP - apparently that's a symptom.
i can only thank God that so far (at 10 months) the little man appears to be healthy.

I agree with you - we do all need to support each other.
My first job was in pediatric rehab and these families can sure use all the support they can get.

This post is a great step in educating and I agree...we should help each other as much as possible.
My son, The Writer was born 8 minutes oxygen deprived and has had to deal with small developmental (large and small motor skills) all his life...while he may never be a great athlete, he is doing amazing things today.
Absolutely we need to support each other! I'm just now seeing this, but I believe I did have some green on. I've slept since then. ;)

What a wonderful post. My son (the second born of twins) had a prolapsed cord and was deprived of oxygen for an unknown amount of time. He had to be resuscitated at birth, and as of now, is going to college this Fall. We were incredibly lucky, but I know in my heart we were a hair away from an entirely different scenario. May God bless all these families.
