When and why do we lose the amazement and determination we have as a child? Having a baby has really made me wonder about this a lot lately. I love to see that look in her eyes when she sees something for the first time.
And why does our self esteem plummet? I mean kids will tell you they are going to be an astronaut or become a Dr. or even president. Do we do it to ourselves or do we let peoples negative comments take root and grow subconsciously in our minds?
When does running and jumping go from playing to exercise? And simple things become dreaded chores. I don't know about you, but every year the Christmas decorating becomes something I dread doing at first. I know in time it will be more fun when Pebbles gets older, but why do I not find it fun now?
When did I go from being carefree to uptight?! Why do I find music I used to listen to very LOUD these days? Did I grow out of it or am I getting old?
Why do we quit things so fast as adults? Like jobs and marriage.
Kids will try something over and over again...like walking for the first time.
At what age do all of these transitions take place, and how do I keep it from stealing the joy and innocence from my daughter?
* I know I'm thinking deep tonight, but let me know your thoughts.

YOUR so right about this!
It's deep in here tonight but I think your on to something.
It's how we view things..glass half full or half empty.
and we can learn to be like that of a little child when we love with our hearts and not our eyes..that's all I've got this late/early..I'm headed to get some shut eye..project that's due in 24hours kept me up!
Night~ good thoughts!
Good questions there Wilma... deep thoughts! I think it is all in our perspective... and the good thing about that, is if we change our outlook and our attitude, we can become young again! :-)
I often struggle with those same questions. This holiday season has been especially difficult for me. Personally, I believe that we become somewhat jaded by life. It's hard to be "Susie Sunshine" ALL the time, and it's never "alright" to be in a foul mood. Eventually, something has to give!!!
Fortunately, I am optimistic by nature, and that helps tremendously:) Keep your chin up, and enjoy that baby!!!!!
Oh, I'm not down guys, I'm just speaking about life in general.
I'm too thrilled about Christmas for my girl to be sad!
Thanks ladies.
I think we aren't as carefree as we were as children, because of the responsiblitlies we have as adults. That's the great thing about little ones. We get to experience the joy of childhood all over again through them.
I too think it's just LIFE in general that bogs us down. It's what ya make of it!- good or bad.
Although, I have to admit, I ask the same questions!
Girl, you are thinking deep. I wish I knew the answers to your questions. I think it's just life and being a responsible grown-up. That can wear down the best of 'em!
Math class.
It all comes down to math class.
You have all the self esteem in the world and you KNOW you can conquer anything until...... math class.
This was SUCH an awesome post. You posed some hard questions. I wouldn't begin to have an answer for any of them but I can say that I have lost some of the same magic in my own life. Maybe it is why children touch our hearts so... because they still have that innocence.
Very well written.
And I ADORE Stacy's comment. I WILL be clicking her name to check out her blog :)
